SEMINOLE COUNTY: MOVING THE COMMUNITY FORWARD

Enter the Market to Take Advantage of the Improvements

April, 2019 – Seminole County is dedicated to improving all aspects of their community, from the infrastructure to safeguarding their natural lands. In 2018, Seminole County public servants made strides to enhance the “lives of those who live, visit, and work in (the) community.”

The improvements that Seminole County continues to make increases the appeal of the area; making Seminole County a sought after market for living, visiting and working. An 14% increase in the amount of federal, state and local grants received in 2018, went directly back into the county.

Some of the areas the grants were employed included assisting local veterans, resurfacing miles of county roadways, and opening Fire Station 29, the 20th in the county. This station assisted in saving $12.1 million of dollars of private property from fires in 2018.

The opening of the Boombah Sports Complex in 2016, has markedly increased tourism, especially in 2018. Tourist tax collections increased nearly 20% in 2018. The complex was also named one of the “Nine American Ballparks Every Event Planner Must See” by SportsEvents Magazine in 2018.

To combat the additional traffic from the increased tourism, and to continue to maintain the infrastructure within the county, 2,904 potholes were filled and over 162,000 SF of sidewalks replaced.

Another project of note in 2018 for Seminole County was the redevelopment of the closed Rolling Hills Golf Course into a 98-acre community park. The property was set to be a multifamily development until those who call the golf course home banded together to fight for the community park as an alternative. This development will continue throughout 2019.

The Seminole County public servants are dedicated to not only maintaining their county and its resources, but also improving the lives of those who live, visit and work in the County. The opportunity to become a part of the Seminole County community is now.
